The knowledge that entertainers lobby for favours from politicians and also a tool likened to thugs in Nigerian politics became an official known fact yesterday when Federal Minister of Sate for Labour and Employment of Nigeria (whatever that means!) Festus Keyamo, leaked messages sent to him by popular Nigerian musician, Eedris Abdulkareem lobbying for favours and funds.
Keyamo called Eedris out yesterday for being an hypocrite for releasing a song against the present government. Dirty laundries were left out to dry yesterday as Eedris was caught in his own words seeking help to pay for hotel bills and funds for his sick mother and the sudden turn of character when he got ghosted.
And his only response is that “Keyamo is evil for keeping those messages all these years.” Oh well! That part cannot be wrong, because some entertainers came through for president Buhari and it certainly wasn’t for free.
There has always been an underlined fraudulent relationship between entertainers and politicians. Because it is hard to explain how entertainers can afford some ridiculous luxury within short periods or better still, a sudden backbone to afford the luxuries. Especially the ones without endorsements.
So, entertainers have been perceived to be the ones bid on by politicians yahoo gangs, and those with illegal ways of making money, just to avoid the wrath of EFCC.
Therefore, it is very easy for them to get rich in the Nigerian entertainment industry, and luckily for them, the world is listening right now, which means the money just began to flow in. Call them the millionaires that evade taxes as well. Well, maybe not for those that have their record labels or production companies registered with CAC.
Keyamo might have been the first to write something, but he is not the angel he portrayed in that story. If you know, you know, so they say.
