The unveiling of the new naira note has generated traction on all media platforms, probably because nothing has changed in terms of design in comparison to the old notes of 200, 500 and 1000 naira respectively. The new note simply looked like it was painted over and the cost for the redesign is said to have cost a whooping 218 billion naira.
The CBN on Wednesday, unveiled the new naira note with President Muhammadu Buhari and to the shock of everyone, it was below expectation and nothing any Nigerian would have imagined. According the AAC presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, the redesigning of the naira note costs as much as 218 billion naira during his interview on Channels Television.
The Finance Ministry denies being involved in the redesigning of the naira note and is also of the opinion that the new naira note might lead to the naira losing more value against foreign currencies.
