Quatar 2022 World Cup: The Hypocrisy in the Conspiracies

The Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022 has commenced with all its glory and with so much to talk about. But the ceremony did not gain momentum without conspiracy theories such as how slaves built the stadiums the world now says promotes love among nations.

The western journalists also had much to say yesterday when the Qatar government forbids the wearing of Rainbow colours and the ‘Love armband’ representing the inclusion of the LGBTQ community in the stadiums.

The ironic thing about these conspiracies is, every society or country is guilty of these accusations, but the western world media is painting Qatar in a bad light because of all the restrictions Qatar has put in place ahead of the world cup. But the truth remains that there is hardly any European or American nation not built on the back of slaves.

America once cautioned Muslims not to impose their religious practices in America by banning Hijab in schools. Americans are known for their ability to promote what they stand against even when they’ve being caught in the same position several times.

Europeans were heavy on slave trade as well. The point is not to make slave trade or freedom to live as one pleases wrong but overlooking the fact that society over the centuries has been fashioned in this manner. The call should not be to make a scapegoat of any nation but promote reorientation among nation leaders and calling for the end of slavery or its perceptions.

On the other hand, nations should be allowed to rule their countries as they see fit, exposure to new ways of living should first be taught to such nations before demonstrations in order to gain the desired result and a competition of barely one month cannot change a perspective that has rode on ages.
