OUR POLITICAL LEADERS FINDS A NEW HOBBY, CARE TO KNOW?

The new thing is the delegation of condolence officers to families or communities that lost the ones they love. But in all honesty, this is not all that new until we found a name and carved out a niche from this recent reoccurring event on the part of Nigerian politicians. And they are often accompanied with the press to make some sort of point that seems like taking advantage of a sad event which in turn mocks those who mourn their loss.

The killing of the Afenifere pioneer’s daughter, Pa. Fasoranti, Mrs. Funke Olakunrin on her way from Ondo state back to Lagos, has attracted these certain political giant flies of condolence officers who had nothing much to say than tell us what we already know and how their hands are tied to do anything about it.

One of Pa. Fasoranti’s prominent political visitor was Bola Tinubu who said; “It takes a long process to train police officers”. What does that mean? That we should try and tolerate the weak security measures in the country till the police officers in training are certified half-baked? We may never know because there were lots of press around, like every politician came with his own press crew to sympathize with the Fasorantis, to cover a story they can well be told in their offices.

The present administration also has nothing to offer this country than condolence visit and twitter messages saying how appalling the event, expecting the dead to rise up by those simple words or the culprits will hear that and repent f their evil deeds.

The laxity against security issues in the country is a sign that our lives does not matter to our leaders and they are fuelling the case with some RUGA settlement bill to keep empowering some group of people who are suspected to be involved in all this atrocities without any form of realistic investigations.

In no time, communities in the country will resolve to defend itself and the result will mean lawlessness which means there will be no need for our leaders anymore. Does this mean we will do a better job governing ourselves without these political leaders?
