Osibanjo Finally Takes A Side, His

It can be frustrating to always look the other way while in a group full of people in denial and exercise of leverage and it seems you are the only one that knows better that it could all backfire.

In Abuja on Sunday during a service to commence the Nigerian 60th anniversary, Vice-president Yemi Osibanjo was fully represented by the Secretary to the Government Service, Mr. Boss Mustapha, who read the vice-president’s speech which read thus: “Our walls are not yet broken, but there are obvious cracks that could lead to a break, if not properly addressed.

The Irony

If the speech was earlier red by the SGF, he might have been able to maneuver that part of the speech. Since the power that be have taken power from the vice-president to function as expected. Nevertheless, his speech represented him well and revealed his state of mind.

The vice-president has been silent for a while and this speech has put things into perspective of him not willing to put his pedigree on the line for the Buhari-led administration. As much as him not willing to soil his good name while in governance, he is also not ready to nod along to everything.

And as for what he said, it is an intelligent remark of a vivid illustration of any relationship. If one partner only wants to keep taking away from the other partner and unwilling to give anything, the victimized partner will have no choice than to explore the option to leave the relationship.

If the northerners are the only benefactor of the government and the ones who decides what next all the time, then, other socio-political region will explore the option of restructuring.

And a faction of the northern socio-political zone called Arewa Consulative Forum, ACF, has now warned the vice-president from making further utterances that can intensify the masses. Little do they know it is already intensified, the vice-president was only giving the last warning.
