As Nigerians look forward to the 2023 general election, some of the contenders are already emerging, especially the presidential aspirants. Although, Vice-President Yemi Osibanjo is yet to officially declare his ambition to run for the presidential seat and this is probably since he is still an active vice-president of the country, declaring now will mean he is ready to step down from the office and chase his ambition.
But among those who have declared their intentions is former Lagos state governor and co-founder of the All Progressive Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the only worthy candidate if/when he declares is Vice-President Osibanjo and these are why he is a worthy contender;
Integrity: The masses love their Vice-President for the changes he enforced in the country during his boss’s medical vacation for six months. Some masives changes occurred during that period under his leadership and Nigerians cannot forget those changes in a hurry.
He was also categorized blameless in the aspect of corruption, which was the same reason President Muhammadu Buhari was also elected to office.
The Anointed: Osibanjo seems to be the favoured one to take over from President Buhari. The president is currently on medical leave and has handed over the affairs of the country to his vice till he is back.
Also, everyone knows to attain presidential power, you need strong backing from the north and so far, Osibanjo seems to have that as well as the western side and when it comes down to it, the southerners will rather choose him compared to Tinubu.
Federal Power: It is a known factor that the person in power dispenses all federal might to intimidate his opposition and in the case of vice-president Yemi Osibanjo, who seems to have the support of his boss to go-ahead, the federal power will be at his disposal just in case of stubborn opponents like Tinubu.
