EFCC operatives reportedly arrested over 69 OAU (Obafemi Awolowo University) students During a midnight raid in Ile Ife, Osun state. The arrest which took place in the odd hours of yesterday around 1:30 am to 4 am led to the arrest of over 69 students within the school. They were said to be arrested due to suspected fraudulent acts.
Shortly after the raid, The OAU Executive popularly known as THE ALUTA began to protest against the unlawful arrest of the students and the protest started around 11am the same day, when the ALUTA led a march to the EFCC office and start protesting for the release of the students.
The Osun state Governor, Ademola Adeleke intervened in the situation after the arrest of the students by the EFCC was brought to his attention and eventually, two students were initially freed and eleven other students subsequently as well.
The entire number of students arrested were released same day of their arrest due to the protest that took place, making Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Students, the first university in Nigeria to protest against the EFCC recent unlawful night raids in the country.
