HipHop rapper Kanye West had his new album launch listening yesterday,  July 23 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta last night. The album which is titled ‘Donda’ was named after Kanye’s late mother.

The whole listening show was nothing short of the Kanye we all know. Different style of launching, he sold out the 70,000 capacity stadium without holding a mic all through the party.

The album featured A-list celebrities like Pop Smoke, Young Thug, Pusha T and the most surprising is Jay Z, which was one way for everyone to know the two have squashed their beefs and some are even saying it is the return of the throne saga between both men.

Certain tracks on the album revealed that Kanye has remained in a thought space since his last album ‘Jesus is King. This new album Donda, still had a lot of Gospel feel to it, just like “I know God Breath On This” and most of the production feels still bears some similarities with the ‘Jesus is King’ album.

What made it special the most, was the poetic feel of his mother’s voice used in introducing some of the tracks which were statements or words of advice to her son. It gave the emotional feel to the album as it is expected.

One of the tracks titled “Love Unconditionally” was an emotional moment for Kanye, where he appeared to be crying and on his knees. A verse in the song repeatedly chorused “I’m losing my family”. And the realistic part of the whole song was that, Kim Kardashian was there to show him support.

Overall, the album depicts the soul of a troubled mind sailing towards peace and balance and more importantly choosing to be different and own his truth and continue to be who he is. A lot of pain can be traced in his lyrics, but not without a show of strength and a good fight. So far, Kanye seems to be using his music as his form of therapy and he seems to be getting good results from it.

According to some sources, the album is yet to be released despite the album launch yesterday and there is no news of when the release might be happening.
