IDP CAMPS Becomes States

Nigeria is the country with the largest internally displaced persons in Africa with  about 3.3 million people in total coming behind Syria with 6.5 million and Colombia with 5.7 million displaced persons in the world. Funny to have the correlating thought of “third most displaced country”.

In 2013 alone, over 470,500 people were displaced. According to UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance, 300,000 people fled their homes in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe whereby 70 percent of them were women and children. Also, victims of the flood caused by heavy rainfall in 2012 alone are over two million people who are yet to be provided with a permanent home and communal clashes between farmers and herdsmen over grazing lands in States such as Benue, Taraba, Zamfara and some parts of Kaduna has added to the number of displaced people in the country.

Some States government in the country are not as populated as the IDP camps put together and the priority of the Federal Government is to fight Corruption with an effort to fight the Boko Haram Insurgence, but the effort is now being diverted into Niger Delta militant groups with a lot of names like political parties in this country, so, those clamouring for laws against the Fulani herdsmen will have to excercise patience with President Buhari.

Not to divert from the concerns that is being craved for at the IDP camps. Individuals in the camps now begs the Federal Government for social amenities such as schools, light, water and so on only conveys a message stating that “If you don’t know how long you will be keeping us here, then give us means of survival” meaning the camps can comfortable become a state with such a population. Rumour has it that officials in the camp now sells off food meant for displaced people provided by UN and other bodies that donates materials to the camp,so much for fighting corruption.

The Federal Government has not found the Chibok Girls, The Boko-Haram members, The looters pay a fine of 2.2 million naira after looting 3.3 billion naira, The name of looters cannot be told it is better kept as a secret, laws to guide the Fulani herdsmen cannot be passed, the crude oil price keeps dropping as if it sits on a sinking sand, The budget declares a campaign for ‘Made In Nigeria’ but the IGP is dwindling to zero. So, what has the government done? asking Nigerians what they have done? They have paid their tax and C of Os!
