Headies With The “Should Have Been” Award Categories

Headies must be suffering badly, it just looked like it traded integrity for some cool cash. The controversy for award categories is never-ending and at this point, It is worthy to think that only people who find Headies important to their craft pays attention to the award in Nigeria.

Besides, celebrities looked starved for events, since they have not been able to host shows or participate in any due to the pandemic and so, it is understandable the way they were all over Headies award this time. Wizkid graced the award in his Pjs guys like he somehow knew it was beneath him but could not help the rush given to the event.

Probably Desmond Elliot thought` gracing the award will help Nigeria solve any ethnic crisis right now or help “the children” stop with the Endsars protest. He messed up big on that issue though.

So, Wizkid, Burnaboy, Davido, Tiwa Savage, and someone else were nominated for the “Artist of the Year” award and Wizkid won the category guys. Yay! but everyone is asking “for which song?” when everyone knew the contention has been between Davido and Burnaboy all year long. Okay o! At this point, it will make sense for Headies to sponsor Cannabis or Marijuana campaign. They must be on crack or something close to that.

Also, Mayorkun won street-hop against Naira Marley and it seems odd because, Mayorkun is good and Naira Marley is equally good with a great street movement, so the award should have been Naira’s.

Bottom-line, Headies came through for the entertainment world and giving the celebrities more things to do than flood the social media all day. But with the Headies award, seems the panel coordinating the award are doing it less with their heads…you know, and more with their hearts. Who knows, it might have been a future award event or “what should have been” awards.
