Facebook Shuts Down For 5 hours Before Whistleblower Testifies In Capitol

Former Facebook employee, Frances Haugen has outed Facebook as a social media tech company that promotes harmful content for its profit and after blowing the whistle on Facebook, the company’s applications including Instagram and Whatsapp shut down for five hours.

The point made by Frances Haugen summarises that Facebook often finds itself in conflict of interest on what is good for the public and what is good for Facebook and often, the company chooses the latter option over the safety and democratic values of the public.

To back up her complaint which she filed to the Federal law enforcement, she downloaded numerous research copies to corroborate her research and evidence, which shows that Facebook is aware of the harm being done by its automated algorithm system that allows high consumption of hate, misinformation and political unrest.

Few days ago, Haugen was invited by the congress to testify against Facebook in Capitol Hill, but a day before the seating, Facebook went down for five hours and now, everyone thinks it has something to do with Facebook trying to either manage the situation in case it leads to indictment or confiscate evidence that might make them look guilty.
