DSS Arrests Boko Haram Leader In Ogun State: Jokes On Nigeria Government

Mind of Lady Margaret

The Nigerian government might mean it to be a thrilling news to Nigerians that a Boko Haram leader was captured in Ogun state, but I think Nigerians are over that circus show of Arresting the sect members and their leaders without any form of trial or capital punishments.

Recent report of Sect members escaping Kuje prison in Abuja was an embarrassing event that did not only taunt the image of the country, but made the whole event a joke. Nigerians wonder how an operation that lasted over 30 minutes in a federal prison, went on without any form of retaliation.

Countless of times, the government settles for exchanging imprisoned sect members and leaders for ransom of kidnapped students or people. Not once have Nigerians heard through media that any member of Boko Haram was tried or killed for killing hundreds and thousands of people. But we hear of them being given amnesty to drop their weapons.

In comparison to the Delta Youths back then, who kidnapped for ransoms too, in every standard, the situation is not the same thing. One rebelled against the government by kidnapping expatriates for money and the other kidnaps and kills in rebel against the government. Within moral compass, none deserves amnesty, but in comparism, one is fairer than the other.

Where is justice for those that have been killed or those that paid ransoms for being kidnapped and traumatized in the process? Once again, the story is about to be the same thing over the Boko Haram leader arrested and Nigerians are not thrilled about it in any way whatsoever.
