Former Minister for Petroleum in Nigeria, Alison-Madueke Diezani, While delivering a virtual lecture which was attended by her former boss, President Goodluck Jonathan among others,whom she showered praises on for his efforts to include women in politics during his tenure.
She talked about how societal value has disintegrated tot he extent that online fraudsters otherwise known as ‘Yahoo Boys’ have become role models to the youths.
The statement makes one wonder if she is not pleased the fraud spotlight is fading from the Nigeria politics and feels political fraudsters are more deserving to be the role models youths ought to look up to.
The former petroleum minister during the Goodluck administration is still being scrutinized for alleged multiple fraudulent activities during her service, which is running into billons of dollars. Her righteous call seems ironic based on her history and the position sh stands in the heart of Nigerians.
Giving no one is perfect, overlooking the past is a given if an accused has been vindicate by the law or gone ahead to bravely take the deserved punishment for their offenses or as simple a addressing he issue or confessing to the crime.
Instead, she carried on to assume the position to make moral calls when she has not lived up to the example of the good life she is righteously calling for in the youths.
