Emmanuel Amunike, a Super Eagles legend, has been accused of favoring Mohammed Salah over Victor Osimhen for the CAF Men’s Player of the Year award. However, Amunike has denied these allegations, clarifying that he was not involved in the voting process at all.
During a discussion on the Arabian team en route to a novelty game in Marrakech, a former player and captain of the Egyptian national team sought his opinion on Hakimi and Salah. Amunike called on journalists and sports enthusiasts to refrain from spreading false news or creating misleading impressions. He emphasized that their role as journalists is to inform the public accurately and responsibly, thereby maintaining the integrity of the profession.
Osimhen, who had a great year for Napoli, finished as the top scoring player in Serie A last season, leading Napoli to their first Scudetto in 33 years. He was awarded the CAF Men’s Player of the Year award. In his acceptance speech, Osimhen thanked God and Emmanuel Amunike for his support.
