One Corner Dance Puts African Society In Mad Corner

The song One Corner by a Ghanian musician known as Patapaa has turned every nook and crane of every party into a mad zone as dancers scramble into corners to imply a rhythmic sexual moves by gluing to a corner or an object in a movement of the dancer’s hips going back and forth to demonstrate sexual thrusting in and outward display. The song is going far and wide into countries and Nigeria is not exempted with the likes of certain celebrities such as Reekado Banks, Davido, Falz The Bhad Guy, Kelechi Iheanacho and so on.

Patapaa  Amisty, the famous artist who sang the One Corner song  might be facing a lawsuit over his claim that a Ghanian record label were after his song falsely, but wherever that leads, it sure does not change the effect of this song and its similarity to the Awilo’s dance back in the days, where there was a unitary form of dance for the entire African community and one can only hope it is not a case of  song outshining its singer as no one seem to know the story of the young man whose song has to a nuclear weapon.

The adoption of the dance in a short period of time cannot be over-emphasized as people lost their lives while living up to the challenging dance. Three kids in Ghana were reported to have drowned in a river while dancing to the one corner song and also the death of a woman during a dance competition while dancing to the same song. Religion can no longer look the other way on this dance issue as some Ghanian Muslim female students were caught on camera dancing to the One Corner song in class.

The dance which gives a vivid display of immorality and its exposure to the public especially kids seem to be tilting towards provoking societal, religious and traditional ethics. The dance can only promote sexual drive in the younger generation.  The dance which was caught on camera at a Nigerian wedding party says a lot in the mind than the eyes

And who says the dance is limited to Africa alone? It seems the lyrics of the song don’t matter at all as Ireland joins in the ritual dance of One Corner
